I get what everyone is saying. Truth is those stories are outdated and Disney rewrote the end to many of them IE in the real little mermaid she dies.
The real truth is no one gets to live happily ever after, they have to work on it because there will be many trials throughout life. But who wants to watch that animated? lol |
to answer your rhetorical question... many adults, especially of the 80's and 90's as told by the number of books about the dystopic future. re George Orwell and Phillip K. Dick, as authors, and Aeon Flux the animated series, for examples. _________________ all i look for is truth and understanding and really good sex. |

Hmmm looshtoy,
that would depend entirely on whether he has both a cock (take note I did not mention dinky toys) and a brain and are able to use both at the same time. If a man is not so pretty, he can be dressed up, but if he is a bit dull around the edges, I don't intend to waste my time.

now as lusties you have to think a little deeper on the whole beauty and beast thing, if beauty is only skin deep, then it should not matter if he turns back or not, and truthfully you have to think to yourself... who would be better in bed. the big beast, or the pretty boy. _________________ all i look for is truth and understanding and really good sex. |

Speaking of Princes and Frogs ...
Yes, if you kiss enough frogs, or toads even, you may find a prince.
( maybe me ??? )
But, just remember some Princes turn into FROGS after you "kiss" them!! |

Unless I am severly mistaken, every story has a mesage within in, and so does every show we watch on tv , or movie we go and see, thats the whole point of it, to get a message accross..
But i'm more worried about those other than disney who use subliminal messages to decide what is cool, or not cool... thats scary when it affects our children.
What the hell, bring on the disney channel and movies.. i admit i like watching them... at least its something we all can watch together, lol .
Whooser stands here proud to be a disney viewer, anybody else want to join me? |

Please, let's not call each other "morons" or similar names.
To the original poster: Since those tales originated in a time when women were basically property, it's not surprising that their messages are, shall we say, "old fashioned."
If anything, though, I think the Disney retellings usually cast the heroines in a more modern and empowered light than the originals did. Belle is an intelligent girl who is seldom seen with her nose outside of a book. She chooses Beast over the arguably more beastly Gaston. You could also argue that the message is that appearances can be deceiving and the physically ugly ones are sometimes the most beautiful at heart, while the physically handsome can sometimes be ugly on the inside, where it counts more.
There are doctoral candidates out there who base their entire course of study on this sort of thing. I think it's fascinating and complex, but I see what you're getting at and I have friends who don't let their daughters watch Disney "princess" movies for this reason. My opinion is that many cultural and familial influences shape us, so while there are old tales that might be "bad" for girls to hear, there are always other factors to counteract any negative influence. |
sorry LL. this is a touchy subject with me.
and apologies to looshtoy. im sure youre not a moron. just thoroughly confused. |

While I do not trust huge corporations like Disney in the slightest, I don't believe that they have any agenda beyond making us give them our hard-earned cash.
I suspect the phallic imagery and sexual conotation is purely by accident and is only there for the morally superior to look for and then to enjoy being outraged by. As for the tales themselves, as has already been stated, they existed long before Disney got their hands on them.
I remember most of those stories from childhood and I guess the impression they have left on me is the most important one as I wasn't searching for hidden meaning back then. To me, Beauty and the Beast was an allegory to remind us that beauty comes from within. Sleeping Beauty and Snow White just followed the age-old message that good will always conquer evil.
I guess part of the beauty in such fairytales is that there are so many messages to be searched for if you wish to, but I think the underlying fear that our children are being corrupted in enjoying them is not terribly realistic.
Great topic!
PS. Jessica Rabbit? I so would! _________________ To view all of my newest stories please visit:

you would like to think that.
ooh another good one is Snow white. she pricks her finger and falls asleep. then wakes up with some stranger kissing her, and ends up marrying him then and there, instead of doing what many of us would do such as pull out the mace (metal or pepper spray either or) |
Loosh... I prefer the 'Adult Version' of Snow White! Where she fingers his prick, gets horny, jumped and pregnant! Then gives birth to the 'Seven Dwarfs' and lives happily ever after in an orgy with all 7 of them! <Sneezy... was her favorite! Everytime he sneezed, Snow White had an orgasm!> |
