Really bad typing grates on me. I sometimes have to sit there and work out just what the hell the person is trying to say and it all gets too difficult after a while. _________________ You've got to look at life the way it oughta be

| I am not a big fan of text talk. I don't use it much so it takes me a little while to figure out what they are saying most of the time. I don't think its necessary to be rude to someone when they use it however. Nothing wrong with explaining your preferences. |

I have to admit that I feel uncomfortable with this topic because I don't like to be judgmental or snobbish. But I look at it this way: There's nothing wrong with seeking out as companions those who are like us. And one of the many characteristics by which we judge compatibility is style of writing. It's not a "better than" or "worse than" judgment, necessarily; more a "similar to" or "dissimilar to" judgment.
Personally, I like people with all kinds of writing styles, so I don't think I use it as a high criterion very much, but if I can't communicate well with the person because of their style, or I can't discern the emotions behind the words well because of the way they write, I tend to not have a very good time with that person.
Discretion isn't always a bad word. |

When I read I don't like to feel like I need a translator who's 35 yrs my junior. I do appreciate English (not to be confused with The English... but I also appreciate them, they spawned the greatest country on Earth).
And I do speak other languages but my prowess in those is not sufficient to be a credible critic. (I know, I know... I'm not the English expert either... there, I said it before you did (and you know who you are!))
But I will confess, that in the middle of a cyber I can sometimes dangle a participle... or conjugate inefficiently.

Good communication is important to me. And while I understand some have limited skills in typing, I still find myself disliking people who don't take the time and effort to include a good base level of capitals, periods, and limit the use of abbreviations to very common phrases.
My reason is that its really all I have to know you by, and if these basics are not going to be observed, then most likely other things would not be observed as well.

I, personally, think the content of the message is much more important than the mechanics. I can overlook a few mistakes in spelling and punctuation if the person is of an interesting character. It seems that abbreviating in general shows a little bit of laziness but, heck, who am I to say.
I do agree with love2 in that if someone is coming here or anywhere else in the world looking for the perfect person they had better look elsewhere. Nobody is perfect.
Why is this in the sexual discussion forum anyway...I think it would be better to place it in the writer's forum. But then again, what do I know? _________________ Obama 08 Obama 08 Obama 08 Obama 08 |

Hi Lusties.
I don't expect perfect writing when sending out messages. Spelling is not my strong suits - even phoentical spelling is iffy as well.
(and don't get me started on map directions - I always thought north was up no matter which way you were holding the map).
However, capitals and periods seem to make messages more readable.
One of my kids gave me a print out of all the abbreviations used in text messaging. Its 21 pages long, with 3 columns per page. I tried using that as reference for a while, but my gosh it took forever to find stuff and then do to that with every 4th word, well it just made understanding the message slow and effort consuming when its really easier to type out the word.
Again, I'm not expecting perfection.
The last message I rejected had 14 lines, no capitals, no periods no line spaces between and 18 text abbreviations - half of which were not on the the 21 page list. |
>> Luv2 slaps himself up side his head... and asks?
Is this a repeat of 'What I said?' .... or, a 'Reply?'
<sighs> and leaves to "Watch Baby's Exercise Video" _________________ Luv2 cleans out his closet of drafts, bringing them to publishing..... Then collaborates on a final story with Tail Gunner... I'll be in touch Levi. |

I agree with Sexycurious also. I really dislike 'texting messages', because you have to really 'pay attention' and 'study', to figure out what the hell they are saying? (That's why I stay clear of the 'Lusty Lounge.' It kind of makes me feel that 'I'm listening to RAP?' and I hate RAP!)
But.... While we are talking about 'being perfect?' Another thing that really 'ticks me off is', trying to read someones post and not be able to 'concentrate', because of all the 'Flashing shit', that is going 'So fast', you need to be on 'Ludes or Grass' to keep pace?
I personally ... came to the 'Lusty Library' to HAVE FUN! To write a few stories and read other's stories? I've done that! To give and receive humor and smiles? I've done that! I've written, and read 'sad posts' on the forums, that have brought tears and sadness. I've done that!
In closing..... Anyone that has come to the 'Lusty Library' looking for that 'Perfect person', or that 'Perfect story', or that 'Perfect message', is probably on the 'Wrong Site?'
