I looked down at her and watched blood travel down from the corners of her mouth as she pulled her snarled lips back into place. She crawled back up my weak body and kissed my lips softly. She stared down at me sadly and apologized. I said nothing as she flew up through the trees to the gray sky above. The rain had stopped by now and I put my clothes back on. I ran to pick up my umbrella where it had fallen and walked home thinking about what had just happened. |
