It had been four months since Ella had known Maria, and she already loved her. Maria was her first love and the only person she wanted, but Maria was with another guy. Ella had been told that she would never end up with Maria countless times. It broke her heart because it was Maria who told her. However, she wouldn't give up. She decided to get together with Maria again the next time she was in town. They met up at the same place where they first saw each other. Maria was, of course, not available, but Ella was love struck. Maria fell in love with Ella, but never made an attempt to say that she wanted to be with her. This night, Ella knew Maria would change her mind. She told Maria to meet her at the cafe in the bookstore. Ella waited impatiently and never stopped looking at the time. Time seemed to go by so slow and it killed her. "She's not coming." She thought to herself "Excuse me. Is this seat taken?" Maria asked with a smile. "Uh- no not at all. Umm, hi! I didn't think you were coming." "Of course I'd be here. It's been a while and I wanted to see you." "You look really good,” Ella said, looking at Maria from head to toe. Maria had the perfect body. She had the mind blowing hourglass curves, long brown hair that reached a few inches past her shoulders, baby blue eyes, and the most gorgeous smile she had ever seen. Ella was caught just staring at her and Maria gave a little chuckle. "Is there something in my teeth?" "Oh no. Sorry I know it's not polite to stare." "I don't mind." Ella felt her cheeks get a little warm and she turned away. They ordered a few cups of coffee and caught up on lost time. Maria told of her soon-to-fail relationship and getting a job at a health insurance company. Ella spilled about her family, being at the same job being a waitress, and finally getting a place of her own. "So is anything else going on with you?" Maria asked. "No not really." Ella felt that Maria was trying to hurry and finish the get together so she could leave. She gave a subtle sigh and asked for the tab. "Oh don't worry I'll get that,” Maria said reaching for the check "No it's alright. I drank the most," Ella replied with a laugh. "Are you feeling alright?" "Yes I'm fine." "Are you sure? Well, do you have somewhere to be?" "No, why?" "It seems to me like you don't want to be here." "No I do, it's just I'm a little…" "A little what?" Ella became really curious. "A little nervous." "Nervous about what, Maria?" "Nervous being around you." "Oh, I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable." "No, no it's ok." Ella started to think of all the reasons why Maria could be nervous around her. Was it because she wanted to be with Ella? Or... because she was trying to avoid the topic of why she won't be with Ella. Ella wished that she'd tell her the truth or better yet, what she wanted to hear. After the few minutes of awkward silence, Ella decided to speak up. "Do you want to go look around a little bit? I think they still have that book you've been wanting." |
