A VERY GOOD FRIEND IS NOT VERY WELL. I LOVED HER.

Yes, I know.
But what else is there?
To stop?
The end will come soon enough for everyone.

To live.
To go on.
Let it try to strike you down.
It will have me to deal with.

There will always be an end.
That is part of the contract of life.
But there is also a beginning.
A beginning made from pleasure.

Then there was you.
Growth and learning.
Gain and loss.
Victory and defeat.

Then there was me.
Hesitant and shy.
Growing in your company.
Learning to put you first.

Above me.
Before me.
Beside me.
Beneath me.

The end may be near.
Nearer than either hoped.
But there is tomorrow.
And the day beyond.

Yes.
It will end.
For everyone.

But not tonight.
