Teresa sat in the bar nursing her drink, looking only into the glass filled with the oily mixture of rum and coke, the slice of lemon floating, reflecting the lights from the dance floor. The club was dark, as if there was any other kind of atmosphere in a club like this, everyone was only here to get drunk and have anonymous sex later; she almost spat into her drink at this thought. The only reason she was even here was waiting for her friends to turn up; after hours of them bugging her to come out, they were the ones who were late. She considered leaving right now, but she would just be bitched at later for being a spoilsport, killjoy or grinch, or some expression that the unintelligent could come up with someone when people didn’t conform. She looked around for a moment and saw the glances from various men around her, and even some women, though she didn’t know why. She didn’t think she was anything special; but with a long single braid of her raven dark hair, long opera gloves, corset, thigh length skirt and stockings, and deep brown eyes, she was the only one who didn’t think so. Although she didn’t think she was anything special, she thought that everyone else was even less special.

She turned back to her a drink, but only for a moment before she sensed someone sit next to her. Obviously it was going to be one of those drunk, slack-jawed boys who thought they were god’s gift to women. She swivelled around on the seat to snarl at the new arrival, but as she did she stopped suddenly, her mouth dropping open

 “Um…hi,” Teresa managed weakly, also trying to speak above the beating of the incessant loud music, cursing herself inwardly, thinking how pathetic she sounded. The man sitting on the bar stool next to her certainly wasn’t drunk, but could be god’s gift; he smiled as he saw Teresa stammering.  The smile on his lips was so arrogant, betraying a hint of his incisors, making him look halfway between a predator looking at his next meal and someone who knew that he was a gift.  This irritated Teresa because she could tell he knew what that smile was doing to her, she squirmed in her seat, images flashing across her mind, she felt like such a hypocrite, but couldn’t help it.  That damn smile and he hadn’t even said anything yet! 

“Come with me.” It wasn’t a question, or a request. He said it as though she wouldn’t say no, and there was an accent there, his voice was rich and deep, making her squirm even more. He reached forwards, taking her hand in his, taking her away from the bar area, leading her by the hand as if she was a little girl, leading her to the section of semi-closed off booths in the corner. Teresa thought of just walking away, but he was very attractive, and he was acting as if this was some sort of game.  She might as well play for now, unless he got too serious or tried something wrong, then she was out of here. The beating music that had drowned out all sound before seemed to be coming from a distance now as the man sat her down in the booth, sitting down next to her, pressing his body up against hers, the heat radiating from him made her squirm again, draping one arm around her shoulders, his hand brushing over her opposite arm and over the top of her breasts; she shivered from
