I woke up that morning in a bit of a fog. My dreams had been strange and I hadn’t slept well. I felt tired and knew I would be dragging throughout the day. I got up, padded to the bathroom, and began my routine. I wasn’t even near being awake until I made it to the kitchen for my cup of coffee. The scent of it filled my head, the aroma bringing me back down to earth. I sipped at it as I read the paper and ignored breakfast. I was actually running ahead of schedule today so I took the few extra minutes I didn’t normally have to relax. The hustle and bustle of “real life” would begin soon enough.
The paper was boring that day, though. It was filled with the usual business about unhappy politics, bad weather, and antics on how unsafe I am in my own house. I sighed and set the paper aside. I would do the crossword later when I got home.
After grabbing my keys, I checked myself in the hall mirror and bustled out the door. It was hot. Really hot. The humidity had been at an all time high the past few weeks and I rarely made it to work without getting sticky. The air was difficult to breath, thick and soupy. The sun beat down on everything, making the world want to shrivel underneath its gaze.
I got in my car and immediately rolled the windows down even as I blasted the AC. It was stifling. God, I thought. Will it ever end? What I wouldn’t give for the beach – hot sand, sun, and the glorious water to cool me down. Beach. If only I could go to the beach instead of going to work. I chuckled out loud. As if, I thought. As if.
On the drive to work, I noticed people in their cars looking genuinely miserable and a little bit insane. The heat was getting to everyone. Nobody had been in good moods for weeks. The shelf life on this heat wave had to be coming to an end. We were due for at least a good rain if not perhaps, say, a snowstorm?
I turned onto the main road toward my office. Traffic was bumper to bumper and the going was slow, practically nonexistent. I sat and daydreamed about the beach. I closed my eyes for a moment, and drifted away to sandy paradise.
I was lying on the beach in a well fitting bikini, my body somehow ten pounds lighter than it had been that morning. I was on my back on a towel, not far from the crashing waves. There was a book next to my head, but I didn’t read it. I just lay there, eyes closed against the sun, my skin basking in the warmth of it. Soon it would be time to go for another dip, to play in the water for a while. But not yet. Not quite yet. For now I just wanted to lay there.
A shadow fell across me, blocking my sun. I opened my eyes, irritated at the intrusion, and looked up into the most beautiful face I had ever seen. The lifeguard was standing over me, smiling. I smiled back, curious as to what he wanted with me.
“May I sit?” he asked.
“Oh. Sure. Yeah.”
I sat up, making room for him on my towel. I studied him as he lowered himself next to me. His body was bronzed from the sun and slick with sweat. His hair was dark blond, curly, and

I felt his nakedness against me Maddy dear heart, You made me wish that I were a movie star at the beach for the first time in my life.
The standing, riding position is my fave so this was an immedi8ate identification for me. And in the waves on a hot sunny day? Omg, what a naughty girl you are! lol. So here is the plan see? I go to acting school , while you shop for a skimpy bikini..........
