It was really hot in the restaurant as we sat around drinking Sangria and working out way through steaks, nachos, and spicy wraps, everyone trying to talk to someone down at the other end of the table. The noise in the restaurant was making the rafters ring.

But I wasn’t bothered about that. My colleagues around me were having a mini food fight, drinking and getting very tipsy, but I was concentrating on the man opposite me who was grinning at the antics of our friends. His lopsided smile was dark, dangerous and I felt lust stir within me, something I hadn’t felt for a very long time. He had dark hair, almost black, his skin tanned olive and his eyes a deeply stirring, melting brown. In his black shirt, open at the neck with his grey silk tie loose, he looked deliciously inviting and not a little sexy. He was practically radiating ‘come get me’ waves and the majority of the women but for our drunken colleagues were casting surreptitious looks at him, their eyes wide and luminous. He radiated masculine strength in his broad shoulders, muscular under his expensive silk shirt, the strong legs and rock solid ass through his conservatively pinstriped trousers. His jaw was strong but not broad, widening to high cheekbones and a Roman nose above the hint of stubble, which seemed to be at odds with his businesslike dress. He was breathtakingly masculine and, dear god, he was winking at me.

All I knew him as was ‘Desa’ but the girls in the office had told me his real name was ‘Desiderio’ – I could remember enough of my GCSE Spanish to know it was a derivative of Desire, but they told me anyway with a giggle and much whispering about whether he lives up to his name. He was some hotshot lawyer who dealt with the vehicle department of the insurance company. I was co-manager of the public relations department, dedicated to my job, the youngest co-manager they had ever had at 25. I couldn’t tell how old Desiderio was - he had laughter lines about his eyes but incredibly smooth skin everywhere else on his face.

‘It is very hot in here,’ he said to me, not shouting above the noise, but I was so finely tuned to him that I could see or read his every word. The slight accent on every word made him seem even more exotic and exciting

‘Yes, it is.’ I dazzled him with my communication skills.

‘And it’s getting late.’ I looked at my watch; it was only 10:30. I looked up at him from under my eyelashes and his eyes met mine, burning hot. I felt desire pulse through me again. He was so exotic, foreign, spicy. His leg pressed against mine gently, and then harder as I rested my thigh over his knee. This was so unlike me, I’m never this forward. He raised his eyebrow at me and his lips quirked at the corners. Suddenly everyone seemed to be cheering and standing, grabbing sweaters and jackets off the back of chairs, staggering vaguely and nudging each other, slightly drunk. They giggled inanely as Desa caught the bill out of one man’s hand and took out the company credit card to everyone’s delight.

‘We’re bonding, no? It was a team-building meal out.’ He winked at the swaying little crowd and the girls almost melted into a heap at his feet; the men slapped him on the back with shouts of drunken happiness. ‘Let the super-rich, top-of-its-league insurance

That was simply amazing. I really enjoyed how you were mixing Spanish into it, I haven't seen another story that does that although perhaps I simply wasn't looking in the right places. I really loved the line "hated to love" it's such a truly wonderful description.

 Well Done..
Loved the story RRR, well deserved story of the month... & Good luck with the story of the year contest...I've realised after reading this, not only do we have similar names, but we have similar writing styles too, a collaboration would be good on a story, but I may contemplate changing my nick..too many people get us confused as it is, on the forums & chat, now it seems on the stories too, judging by a couple of comments left on here. Which isn't fair to you or me, we need our own identity hey. I'm sure it must guile you sometimes when people think your the cheeky scouse bird lol. Anyways great story, loved the descriptions & you made the visual easy...well done again xxx

Exceptionally well-written story, congrats. Vivid descriptions - I could taste the wine and feel the night. Love the way you moved from inside, to outside, to the cab and then home. Write on!

 Re: Story
Correcting > Lucky? ............ Story> I'm sorry but I stopped reading half way though. I am no writer by anymeans, but I could not get past the "as" and "was" used in every other sentence. I think the story had the potentential to be great. Try eliminating the usage of as, was, and other words repeating 'TOO' much. What I did read of the story line I liked, other 'THAN' the repeating of annoying words over and over. Keep up the '???' work, your imagination Rocks. Lucks (What kind of work Lucks???)

 Rose Rocks !!
Very hot and passionate Rose! Ignore what 'Lucky mumbled'. She was just pissed, because nobody was getting 'Slapped Around!' I'll have to go check her profile and see if she has any stories? They are probably perfect though? :)(: Great job Rose! Made my 'Willie' tingle! :) Thanks and '3 pts' ...... Luv2

 Re: Story
Thanks to all who have voted and commented, very much appreciated! :) Glad you liked the story. Lucks - thanks for the constructive criticism! :) I know I also have a tendency to use 'that' and 'which' too much as well; I'll work on improving these problems. Rose xxx

A very well deserved 'Story of the Week', redred. Ths one phrase brought the whole thing together for me: 'tipped over into that velvety darkness together...' - pure poetry! Bee xx

Wow...That was incredible. Ultimately lusty, but not so much that it's devoid fo emotion. You get that very passionate feeling when you read this.
