Fran just could not believe, as her ex supposed, she was unable to cope any more. She’d adopted a very positive attitude, she was strong and determined and nothing would get in her way.

She’d had it up to here with relationships - no more for her, the heartbreak, the trauma after a horrendous divorce - no more. She just wanted to be her own woman.

Now she was entirely free to take life as it comes, see what it had to dish out.

Before there was always another element in her life to prevent her just from doing the things she wanted, without having to go along with what he wanted, just in order to keep him happy and content - but why! She had passion, fortitude and the will to try daring new things. She was in her mid thirties, in the prime of her life - why let it go to waste. She could now be just utterly selfish, after all. Remembering also to avail herself of the interests she was into.

When she met Janice Stubbs, a nurse, she began to realise her real needs - Janice was divorced too and it was soon apparent they had so much in common.
