It was a beautiful morning for a walk.

The bluest sky with not a cloud to be seen, a warm gentle breeze rustling through the trees, and the smell of nature. I loved the freshness of it. Although, what made it all the more perfect, was that I was with her.

She had not been in the country for long, and was eager to see as much as she could. I had promised to take her to one of my favourite spots. It wasn't a well known place, but I liked it that way.

We had been walking through the forest for a while, chatting away and laughing about one thing or another. We hardly payed any attention to how far we had already come. Our feet seemed to be on auto-pilot as we talked about silly little things.

Although we were surrounded by the constant chatter of the native wildlife, I could tell we were close to our destination from the faint sound of rushing water.

Sure enough, the sound became gradually louder. I could see the puzzled look on her face, as she tried to figure out what it was I was taking her to see. She looked to me for some sort of clue, but I just smiled at her and kept walking. She crossed her arms, and slowed her pace to a few steps behind me. I knew what she was doing, and it wasn't going to work.

"I'm not going to tell you, so there's no point in pretending you're angry." I stopped in front of her, rested my hands on her shoulders and placed a kiss on her forehead. I then turned back to the path and kept walking. I smiled to myself as I heard quickened footsteps behind me. As she caught up, she reached her hand out and locked her fingers between mine before giving me a playful nudge with her shoulder. We looked at each other and giggled as we kept walking.

The sound of flowing water was very close now, and I could start to smell the dampness in the air. I recognised the surroundings, the path had become much more jagged and rocky.

As the trees parted, I watched as her face lit up. "A waterfall!" she squealed, in an excited tone.

The waterfall was indeed beautiful. The clear spring water flowing over from the rockface above, crashing into the widened pool beneath it. The hint of a rainbow sparkled through the mist of the falling water. However, it didn't quite compare to the sparkle in her eyes at that moment. I could tell I hadn't disappointed her.

We unpacked our backpacks for lunch, and sat on the rocks admiring the scenery. Although I had been here multiple times before, it was different with her. I think it was the constant smile on her face that made the difference.

We lay on the smooth rocks and just talked for a while, her head rested on my shoulder. She closed her eyes and placed her hand over my chest as she dozed off. I lay there for a short time before following suit, my eyes became heavy and I felt myself drifting off too.

My eyes reopened sometime later, but I was blinded by the glare of the sun. It had slowly risen higher while we were asleep, and so had the temperature. We hadn't realised just how hot it was going to be.

I brushed my hand gently against her face to wake her. The last thing I wanted was for her to leave with a bad case of sunburn. We moved into the shade while we emerged from our afternoon daze.

"So,
