    now whispers.

    Both voices are familiar to her. Both pull at her heartstrings. She barely hears them in her sleep.

    “It's time to wake up now, sweetie,” that same silvery woman’s voice whispers softly

    “Mr and Mrs Fry? I am Doctor Allistar. I have some bad news. The chances are very slim that Gwen will ever wake up. That fall she took had caused her brain to swell; by the time the doctors in India got her into an MRI to see if there was any damage, it was already too late. We can make her comfortable in long our coma patient ward, but as I said, there is little chance she will ever wake up. The baby she carried was at six weeks when Gwen miscarried. I’m sorry.”

    Gwen’s parents wrap their arms around each other and weep.
    *               *                *

    “Bryanna!  You get your little tushie back here and wash your hands!  You know the rules! After playtime we wash our hands!”

    “But Mo-om! Chrissy didn’t wash his hands! Why do I have to?” Bryanna shouts.

    Gwen sighs, “Bryanna, your brother is only a year old! I’ve washed his hands! Now hop to it and don’t forget to use soap!” She shuffles Chrissy on her hip.

    In walks Theo, grinning ear to ear, with the kite they were playing with out in the park. Kayla barking, tail wagging, prances in the door.

    “Theodore!  Grab Kayla!  I just washed the floors this morning!”  She bends over and drops Chrissy in the playpen. Chrissy, not happy about leaving his mother, starts to shriek, his hands up in the air, demanding to be picked up.

    Theo ignores the request to get Kayla and reaches for Gwen’s hips. Pulling her close to him, his lips find hers. She forgets about being a mother, she forgets about being a wife.  Her body wakes; she is a woman once more. Her body is alive, responding to his touch. Her hands go up into his hair, down over his ears.

    Theo pulls back from her lips…  “Gwenevere my love… It’s time to wake up.”

    Her eyes narrow at him, her face turns slightly angry. “No. I don’t want to wake up. You died. I don’t want to live without you. Don’t you see?  I can’t live without you!” Tears fall down her face as she tells him of his fate in the real world.

    His hands take hers, holding them by her sides.  “This is no way to live, my Lady.”

    She looks around at the family room.  Toys everywhere, Chrissy in his playpen chewing on a toy. Finger painting up on the walls, pictures of them at Frank and Crystal’s wedding. Their trip to Alaska to mark their three month anniversary, a picture of them at the airport as she was leaving for India and so many of them in between. Pictures of their wedding, of the kids, of picnics, of family holidays together. Pictures of the night sky looking up through a halo of trees.

    Pictures.

    All the memories she has filled in, after she returned to Theo after India.

    To her, their life never stopped.

    “Gwenevere my love, you have to wake up.  There is so much to live for. Think of your work,” Theo tries to plead to her.

    “Theodore, I said no. I can’t live without you.” Her tears fall over her cheeks.

    She hears the familiar voice again but refuses to turn her head to look.
    *               *                *

    “Dr. Allistar?  Why is Gwen crying?” Mrs. Fry asks.

    “It’s her body’s way of lubricating her eyes. It’s nothing. How are you doing today, Mrs.

     Wow
    You know, I wasn't going to read this simply because of how it made my wife, Morbid, cry. But this was just a beautiful story. It made me think of her and how I would feel, but at the same time it made me treasure our love so much more. (If that was even possible. lol) I did read the first one and didn't think the second was very fair, but you pulled this off just swimmingly and I really enjoyed it.

     Truly amazing love story
    Part 1 of your story touched my mind but part 2 penetrated my heart. You pulled me into their lives. I lived their passion, their love. I felt her pain. I laughed as well as cried and through them I saw life a little differently. Exceptional job Woman! Thank you for writing but more importantly thank you for sharing.

     beautifically creative and romantic!
    wow! what an awesome ending! i curled up with your story with a glass of wine and a jumbo box of tissues and loved every word. One thing i particularly enjoyed was the fact that every time i thought i knew what was going to happen, you would twist the plot and surprise me. it's so refreshing to see such a creative departure from the typical erotica published here. I hope this inspires others to approach their writing a little more outside the box. ~xoxoxoxy

    What a beautiful ending. I love the irony of conclusion. The universe TRULY does work in mysterious ways. Fate, what a cruel bitch she can be!

     "The Magic Touch"
    "My heart has been your wife since the moment we met. The rest is just legal mumbo jumbo. You will be calling me mother possibly sooner than you think." These are Gwen's parting words to her husband-to-be, Theo. They also could be the words she uses when she reawakens to her life, to her calling. No she was not to fulfill that initial dream per se but she was able to use it to drive her to see the need for her "magic touch." It is the touch of those few great people who can transform lives for the better. By writing this story at this time in history, when humanity needs its best to step forward like Gwen and bring it healing and spiritual elevation, this story is not only beautifully written and developed, but shows us all how we can take even the death of the person we love most in this world and use it to motivate us to greatness. It is an sweet piece of erotica, a lesson in loving, a lesson in living and dieing, and how to give our lives and the lives of others meaning in the worst of times. It is then that we are called to what makes us great as a species. Woman darling, your life in China, came through bright and clear in this story. Thank you for being the great lady you are and not only setting an example for us, but for putting it into words we can all see. I also thought the setting of India was a good place to have all the mind states develop! Nice touch! lol Yes your laughter is infectious and always has been. Those you help, have tears of joy for everything you have chosen to give them whether they see it overtly or not. They are lucky you were born. This story was nothing short of beautiful and inspiring. eric

    What a beautiful tragic story! I was glued to the pages in shock and disbelief and in hope that I misunderstood something. Some of the best stories have a tragic side to them. The hours you must have spent crafting this is unfathomable. Very romantic, very emotional, very good Woman. Had to grab the tissues as the tears kept falling. We all have hopes and dreams for what might have been. Thank you for this beautiful, touching story.

     .........
    ...........I am at a loss for words. As I sit here with tears streaming down my face.........I really don't know how to put into words the way I am feeling. I had a dreaded feeling in the back of my mind that something bad was going to happen, I was hopeing and praying with all that I am that nothing bad would. Woman well done. That sounds so trite, but it is all that I can offer at the moment. Well done! Kisses and tears Peachie

     Thank-you!!!
    I just wanted to make it official and say thank-you to a few of you. You know who you are; My Darling King of the Funny People, you are so much more than just Bernie to me! To the only man who can ASL me, but never does, thank-you for the idea of making it all senseless. And finally; the man who inspired it all. By the way, thank-you for reading forty-something pages, I just hope you enjoyed it!
