Ann was the woman who gave away free samples in the supermarket where I was manager, and as often as we could, the employees could find us sitting in my office, smoking, laughing and talking. What this actually was was her way of making sure I was hooked, as if she didn’t know already. Then so relaxed and casual, she said, “Let’s go to my apartment.” Not waiting for my answer, she took my hand and we were on our way. A small place, one bedroom, with bath separate, kitchen, dinning and living room in one, but all done exactly as I knew hers would be, very feminine.
